Gino Minardi was born and raised in the coastal town of Gela, Italy, which is located in the province of Caltanisetta. He came to America in 1957 and settled in Brooklyn, New York. Spending much of his time working in a local bakery, Gino began dating Angela in his free time. They married in 1959 and eventually moved to New Jersey where he opened his first Italian-American bakery/pizzaria. After moving to Florida and opening a pizza shop, his friend Tony from Sicily talked Gino and his brother Luciano into coming to Texas for a partnership in Galveston. With their children migrating to the Austin area, Gino and Angela ultimately made the move themselves. They chose Round Rock as the best fit for them and Gino’s Italian Restaurant. Opening in its doors at its current location in 1993, Gino’s has been proudly serving the Central Texas area for over 20 years.
